It’s already in demand. But at the industrial level. There’s also a plan for a small SLS machine. With a 150 mm build area. In theory, you could even put it in an apartment. But the price… It’s hard to compete with China on component costs. And a lot of things just aren’t made here at all.
The most important components of SLM printers — the scanner, the laser source, and the control boards — are made here. But they cost several times more than foreign ones. The quality isn’t worse, but they’re more expensive. Mostly because there’s no mass production.

Уже востребовано. Но на уровне промышленного применения. Есть план по малому sls. С полем 150мм. По идее даже в квартире можно будет ставить. Но цена… С Китаем тяжело конкурировать в стоимости комплектующих. Да и многое совсем у нас не производят.
Самые важные компоненты slm принтеров, сканатор, лазерный источник и платы управления, делают у нас. Но кратно дороже иностанных. По качеству не хуже, но дороже. В основном потому что нет массовости.
Well, if nobody orders them, then they definitely won’t start making them. It’ll all just be for defense contracts.
We’ve got trouble with both scale and labor costs, of course.

Naturally. Back in the day, China boosted its industry with lower taxes. And some other measures too. For example, China doesn’t trade in raw resources, even though it has plenty of them. Only finished products. Want cheap resources and labor? Welcome — build us a factory on our territory with your own money. Train our workers, and so on and so forth. That’s why they have crazy amounts of foreign investment in industry.

Само собой. Китай в свое время бустанул промышленность пониженными налогами. Ну и еще некоторые меры. Например Китай не торгует ресурсами, а из у ниго много. Только конечный продукт. Хочешь дешевые ресурсы и рабочую силу - велком, стрй нам завод на свои бабки на нашей территории. Обучай наших рабочих и тд и тп. Поэтому у них бешенные внешние инвестиции в промышленность.
