Why though? It’s a 2040 — it can do everything on its own without a Raspberry Pi. It can do a web UI, Wi‑Fi, all that. But you’d have to code and solder.

The 2040 is an MCU, while a Raspberry Pi is a CPU. And as far as I know, the 2040 doesn’t have built-in Wi‑Fi, let alone enough space to put a proper UI on it.
2040 это МК, а малина это ЦП. И 2040 вроде как не имеет встроенной вафли и уж тем более места чтоб туда нормальную морду залить
There’s no built-in Wi‑Fi, but it can go through USB and so on. And out of the whole UI, you only really need buttons to start a script and some kind of display.
Встроенной вафли нет, но может в usb и далее по тексту. А из всей морды надо только кнопки для запуска скрипта и показометр

I’m not really familiar with this stuff. The whole point here is to replace the printer host with this thing, so they’re independent from each other.

Yeah, that’s exactly what I mean. Put the screen on SPI, wire up three buttons, and that’s it.
